They say it’s wrong to pick a favorite child; but it’s the end of the year, staying cozy at home is currently a top priority, and we’re in the mood to reflect. 2025 brought a lot of interior design fads—some good, some bad, some pewter—though with the exception of one continually beloved color, it turns out our editors’ most memorable home purchases have very little to do with trends at all. Our list of yearly favorites is a mix of practical investments and little luxuries; both the handy desk lamp to illuminate a daily stack of work, and the frog-adorned paperweight with which to keep it tidy.

’Twas the year of the bedding refresh and the nursery moodboard; of office updates and dinner party prep. Stand-out brands and designers like Parachute and Sophie Lou Jacobsen repeatedly registered as Vogue favorites. And as for that aforementioned color trend? It looks like the chocolate brown craze is still going strong—even in interiors.

“It has been a delight to try to make my new office feel more cozy. I have my bulletin board full of my kids’ artwork but I needed to balance that out from going too Miss Frizzle. I got a fabulous, Giacometti-esque bookshelf from Restoration Hardware, four of these rust-colored Windsor chairs from Serena & Lily as well as their sisal rug, a beautiful jug-turned-lamp from Irving & Daughters with a Robert Kime shade, plus the most gorgeous Bonacina desk chair from Cabana. Now we are cooking!”

“After receiving an Anglepoise mini lamp in a fetching shade of avocado green as a gift earlier this year, I decided it was finally time to zhuzh up my home desk situation. My other additions have included this marble pencil pot by Bridie Hall, a delightful John Derian frog decoupage paperweight I picked up from Choosing Keeping in London, and (in a shameless plug for my own side project, the indie interiors mag Scenery) a brass incense holder we made for our fourth issue with Perfumer H—plus the custom incense, of course, which is crafted by one of the few remaining traditional makers in Japan.
I’ve also been leveling up my bath routine this year. First, courtesy of these butter-soft Autumn Sonata towels, and then with my new obsession, the oil body cleansers by Sharmadean Read’s new brand 39BC, which are best used just squeezed straight into the tub to leave your skin silky soft once you step out. (My favorite scent so far is the decadent, frankincense- and sandalwood-infused Denarii.)”

“2025 was the year I discovered a new favorite finishing olive oil, replaced my linen pillowcases, and decided to be the kind of person who always has taper candles on-hand (they’re the best low-effort dinner party centerpiece). 2025 was also the year I welcomed not one, but two fruit trees into my home—one kumquat, one calamondin. Are they dead? Yes, very much so. But the terracotta pots I purchased to house them inspire me to keep trying to bring them back to life; or at the very least, quickly source their successors.”

We got one this year, and it’s been a nice addition—I like the plastic vinyl material, which feels especially robust in comparison to your everyday curtain or liner, and their array of mood-boosting colors. When the sun shines in our bathroom, the curtain casts a pink, orange, and yellow glow that feels like a homemade sunset.”

Some of my favorite buys include a restock of my Sijo eucalyptus sheets which deliver a cooling, almost silky quality that is a dream to sleep on. I’m in the early stages of decorating and plan on taking my time before committing to to big ticket items—art, coffee tables, large mirrors—so in the meantime little kitchen tools spark joy.
