Sarah Pidgeon may now be forever associated with Carolyn Bessette’s pioneering brand of ’90s Klein-influenced minimalism, but, offscreen, the actor is savvily using her style in a very different way to set herself apart from her Love Story character.

Today, the actor stopped by ABC Studios in New York City, where she paired a vibrant tomato-hued jacket with a pair of Chanel Métiers d’art 2026 cap-toe pumps, the heels skewering little red apples. While her novelty shoes were a cheeky little wink to those who knew where to look, to complete the look she also opted for a bolder, in-your-face accessory: a leopard print bag—a Chanel 25 to be exact.

This is hardly the first bit of animal print we’ve seen in recent weeks. In fact, it’s shaping up to be spring’s … ahem, wildest … tend. Sure, there’s an argument to be made that leopard is a neutral, but lately, it’s become a symbol of the shift away from the understated appeal of quiet luxury.

Take Jennifer Lawrence, who was just yesterday spotted strolling through New York toting Prada’s bozy Galleria bag, its animal print body accented with turquoise and cherry red ostrich leather. Because she paired it with layers of earthy neutrals, it will come as no surprise that all eyes were immediately drawn straight to Lawrence’s look-at-me statement purse.
